Abstract

This paper aims at establishing the case of stronger intellectual property rights (IPRs) protection in Pakistan to boost creative economy in Pakistan based on global evidence, supporting theoretical framework, and economic evidence. In this paper, I have tried to explain the development of creative economies in countries with the effective IPRs mechanism and its benefit for the overall economy. Moreover, through analysing relevant theories on effective IPRs enforcement, I have contended that effective IPRs are important for Pakistan from right-based approach as well as Islamic Law. Last but not least, I have analysed data from patent and copyrights perspective using quantitative evidence, to make the case of effective IPRs in Pakistan for strengthening creative economy.
